ARTIST STATEMENT
As a Visual Artist from the Ukraine, I create delicate depictions of nature, including colourful flowers, various plants, and natural scenes that hold my personal experiences. Not only do I see my art as both a reflection of the modern world and a way for me to use visual language to influence what I see, but to change perspective for the better. For me, my present-day life is full of contrasts, and I am interested in exploring these in my work.
After immigrating to Canada in 2022 due to the war in the Ukraine, I have started to combine the contrasts of past watercolor flowers, representing feelings of serenity before the war, with my contemporary feelings after the war and experience in Canada. My art helps me to express myself and inspire those around me, making them understand that they are not alone in experiencing both the sorrow of war and the joy of continuing to live and enjoy each new day.
